Dunga wanted Neymar out

Dunga wanted Neymar out

The four-match ban that was handed to Neymar is still the subject of much conversation in Brazil - above all because many couldn't understand why the Brazilian Football Federation (CBF) didn't appeal. A CBF director has explained why and in doing so has added fuel to the already raging fire.
"They are tough moments in which a decision has to be made and only time will tell if it is the correct one or not. The coaches didn't hesitate for a moment and asked us not to appeal the sanction, as it was best that Neymar went", revealed Walter Feldman, general secretary of the CBF, when talking on Brazilian sports television programme, 'Esporte Espectacular'. The five-times world champions' premature crashing out of the tournament means that Neymar will not be able to take part in the first two games of the Russia 2018 World Cup qualifiers, although the CBF will now try and get CONMEBOL to agree on Neymar serving his remaining two match bans in the next Copa América.
"From now on, we will never pass on our right to appeal. Whatever the decision may be; it is our right", avowed the CBF general secretary.
Despite Brazil's disappointing performance in the Copa América, Fieldman declared himself in favour of Dunga continuing as the national team's manager. "Being knocked out in Chile, something all Brazilians are sorry about, does not seem to me sufficient reason to sack Dunga. We can't just make decisions based on results, The CBF's new strategy is to plan for the long term."
